It is that time of year… helping clients get ahead out side of their homes and in the garden. This home we trimmed, planted, repotted, hung yard art, cut palm seed pods before they exploded everywhere, cleaned out all the pollen and leaves out of their bromeliads, put in some weed cloth for a new bed, and lastly blew off/ swept up the driveway/ sidewalks from all the crazy pollen that has been falling everywhere lately. The schedule has been filling up for this type of work right now so get on the books soon if you need help!
Sometimes projects don’t always go how you hope for but as long as you can pivot correctly… the end results are what matter most! This was supposed to be a simple patch and paint… Everything went according to plan “scraped chipping paint/ glue on the sidewalls, drywall patches, primer, painted” and as I was getting ready to leave my client’s house I decided to check my handy work one more time. As I took a closer look I seen the paint start to pop and within 5 minutes, it was popping up everywhere! Unfortunately whoever painted this wall the first time didn’t use primer so soon as it got wet from the paint it started peeling off the drywall like snake skin! Needless to say I had to scrap it all off, redo the drywall patches, primer, paint, etc. In the end it came out beautiful and my client was very happy with the end results!
Knocked out a todo list for a client today!! Installed a solar light in their backyard, hung some pretty cool blinds that open from multiple ways, fixed some striped holes to be able to hang their vent cover back up, and lastly they picked up a kit to clean their headlights. Besides the crazy directions with each step having a,b,c,d steps inside of each step I was able to make them look new again!!
Nothing like installing a dishwasher with no directions or parts for mounting! I ended up having to change up some of the plumbing underneath the sink to make it work. The next challenge was figuring away how to anchor it in place with no parts that came with it, but we figured it out and it is running like a dream! Next changed out all the hardware, on all of the drawers and cabinets. Last but not least we fixed the back of the refrigerator so that now the ice machine works again.
We knocked out two of our clients storage units today!! Picked up three shelves that we had to put together for them but by the time we finish the first unit we knew we had to go back for more! Both units were dramatically changed for the better. No more not knowing where anything is at and will be able to get in and out of to access their belongings with ease!! Nothing like being set up for success!!
Today I made a 100 ft temporary fence for a 5 pound 10+ yr old toy poodle so she doesn’t escape out of the backyard. Next I changed out some spotlights in the backyard. Then I unclogged and cleaned out a dryer trap that was completely jammed up. But now the pup is safe from escaping, lights are shining bright, and vent is flowing perfectly!!
Drove up to Homedepot to pick up a new freezer for a client and brought it back to her place. Once I was able to swap all the food out and deice the old freezer, it was an easy switch over. Also while I was at Home Depot I picked up two fire alarms for her house that I installed. Plus picked up some solar outdoor lights that I will be installing for her next week.
Changed out the tank in the water system and also put in a new faucet that was leaking. Then touched up this wall where a client was testing out some new colors for her living room. We decided that the original color that she had in that are perfectly matches her furniture, etc. so why change it!
Knocked out a little drywall repair for a client who had some plumbing done where they needed to get to some pipes. Took a piece of the drywall to the paint store to match it up before hand. Once I got back, I did the drywall repair, next did my best to match the skip trial texture. Let that dry, slapped a coat paint on there afterwards, and it’s looking back like New!!
Knocked out another to do list for a client today!! I ended up starting out locking in some plastic tubing with some Loctite adhesive so that they would stop popping out when using the fence. Then fixed 2 fence doors with some extra wood that she had lying around her house. One of them just needed to have the latches moved and the other was falling apart. Now they have been fixed to hopefully last another few years. Next got rid of some old paint, stain, gas, at the local waste management on my way home. I truly do enjoy fixing things and helping others feel accomplished.
Knocked out some irrigation for a client earlier this week out on her full deck. Some of the existing irrigation was way overkill and spraying all over her pool deck. This was causing her to have her pool deck pressure washed way more than needed. After switching A few things up and switching all the heads over to bubblers, she is back in business and Plants are happy! While I was there, I also fixed a few pieces of her fence that was coming down but I forgot to take pics. It is always a great feeling when you see the smile on your client‘s face when sometimes just the smallest things get fixed and make a huge difference!!
Had to take out a few tongue and groove slats to get to some storm damage in the infrastructure of the porch. It was pretty tedious to do without damaging the original planks. But non the less we got it done and once they finished working on the infrastructure, we put it back into place making it looked like nothing ever happened there! It took some skill putting drywall back in place, filling the holes, piecing it back together, bonding it, sanding, caulking, and painting, but looked like new in the end!!
What a Transformation!
This beautiful crystal and oil-rubbed bronze chandelier was hiding under years of dust. I carefully dusted and polished, until it sparkled again — bringing back its original shine and elegance!
If your fixtures or décor need some detailed attention, we would love to help bring the glow back to your home, too.
Knocked a few more task off a client’s list today. First started by working inside with a few items like hanging pictures, rearranging some art, and changed out some bulbs to energy efficient lights bulbs. Next I moved outside to sweep and pressure wash the pool area. It was a beautiful day to get some task knocked out!!
Just finished a little porch ceiling cleaning and painting job for a client. Also touched ip a few other things while i was there. The individual boards on the ceiling made the job go a little longer than expected because I had to go back and cut in each individual line. BUT it really came out very nice!! Nothing like a fresh coat of paint to really freshen things up!!
Clients shower head snapped off, and I was able to solve the problem with a little out of the box thinking and some good ole elbow grease!! :) I ended up using a tire iron to get to the part where I was able to remove the threads that broke off inside of the escutcheon. Thankfully it was a pretty simple fix and we didn’t have to open any walls. Just ended up changing a new shower arm, checked for no leaks, and it was good as new!!
Replaced a few screen panels for a client that was missing a few from hurricane season. Then a few of them had some type of moss growing on them. Tried to clean it off a few different ways, but it was pretty stubborn so we just replaced them as well. Also cleaned all the cobwebs and spiders out of the inside of the screen cage from being open to the elements. It’s looking nice and clean again!!
Initially put in new lightbulbs in the skylighting, but unfortunately, the new lightbulbs did not turn on. But after replacing the ballast for the sky lighting, The original lightbulbs came right on, and the skylighting was back in business! :-) Thankfully we were able to return the new lightbulbs which in the end saved more money.
Every couple weeks, I have the pleasure of caring for one of our client’s stunning and ever-growing orchid collections. As a fellow plant lover, this is one of my favorite tasks. When the homeowners head to their mountain retreat for the summer or go on one of their many other travels, I make sure their indoor and outdoor orchids are beautifully arranged for their return.
My clients freezer was freezing up and the refrigerator was not staying cool!! I ended up changing out the damper that was only a $30 part!! It was a little bit of a tricky job with all the different parts, but thankfully it went smoothly and they are back in business. It’s working like it’s brand new and no more having to go look for a custom sized refrigerator that will fit that particular spot!!
Client picked out this a beautiful “ Song of India” and Variegated pineapple plant from a nursery. I picked it up in my truck and stopped my Home Depot to grab some potting soil and a nice pot to replant for her. Both plants were a lovely addition to her home. If you ever need a truck and some extra muscle, we are always here to help you!!
